Kate, my smoked work doesn't compare with Russel's
smoke-glazed pots. He's been doing his work for
some time now which has led to pretty much
perfection of method.
However, I do use an old oil can.... added a
long handle to the lid for painless lifting...
and oxygen holes around the bottom. I
smoke my terra-sigilatta (Vince's TS) work
in it, using paper and sawdust.... looks good.
Which reminds me, I haven't done this in some
time ...... hope son didn't truck the can to
the dump.... later....

In the Mojave desert of California U.S.A.
where the wind has ceased for a few days,
the yellow ball in the sky isn't scorching
the shinoed mountains outside my window,
and the wildflowers have yet to
become weeds. Even the quiet is dramatic
in our desert .... calm reigning ferociously
comes to mind.
