Here at the Appalachian Center for Craft we have a variety of electric
wheels. About four years ago we added ten Creative Industry ClayBoss and
BigBoss wheels, and last year we added ten Axner wheels, and all are holding
up very well. Until Axner solves the problem of the flimsy, oversized
splashpan, I'd go with the CI wheels. I hear that CI has upgraded the
ClayBoss wheel with a more powerful motor, and I think it would be an ideal
unit for your needs.
Good luck -

Dawn, =20
I have been using a Brent Ie for a little over a year now. It has =
done wonderfull in my studio. The only problem i have ever had with it =
was the belt coming loose once or twice. It is ideal for students =
because the throwing capacity is so low.....20 lbs i believe. So if =
your students are supermen and superladies who like to throw thirty =
pound tea pots you probably should go with something bigger. But if =
they are just starting out it is a great tool to have. It also has a =
lot of room on the front of the wheel. almost like its biult right onto =
a table top. I love it.

I'm mean its a Brent what more do you have to say! =20

I definitely agree that the ie wheel is a great option. You might also
look into the Great Lake Throw -n- Go wheel. They are more expensive
than an ie, but it is a really cool and innovative design that no other
wheel I'm aware of has. It's difficult to explain, so I'm including a
link to a picture of it on our website.
