Hello all,
Our potter's group meets this weekend, and we're going to attempt to
build the slab roller from the plans printed long ago in Ceramics
Monthly. I was wondering if anyone who's done it before can offer any
advice before we get started. Those plans don't seem terribly complete.
I've acquired most of the parts already, and had the pipe machined to
make it true to the center. It came back from the machine shop
yesterday and looks pretty impressive. It's heavy and very sturdy
looking. The machinist even smoothed the outside of the pipe for me,
and I bought some Krylon non-skid spray coating to put on the pipe to
help it grip the canvas. Does that sound like a good idea? I saw
something to that effect in a recent post about slab rollers.
Thanks for any help.
Sylvia Shirley
