clayart: odd email

updated tue 26 apr 05

Hi Bonnie,

I get various of these also, these "Out of Office
Auto-Reply" things, seemingly from various Clayart
subscribers.

I think that when I get them, they tend refer to something I
myself have sent into Clayart...so...it is a mystery to
me...

I am guessing that something in their automated e-mail
program thinks I had written to them somehow...

Hello, Bonnie, and other clayart wonderers,

The message Bonnie quoted was sent to anyone who posted a message to
clayart during the time Barbara Mcavoy was "out of the office."

It is commonly called a "vacation message" and is configured to be
automatically sent out by someone's mail server when they will be
away from email for some time.

It should have been (but wasn't) configured to not send messages to
mailing lists.

I sent her a note suggesting that she configure her future messages
to exclude lists.

Regards,
Maurice

Today I received an email as follows:

Mcavoy, Barbara: Out of Office AutoReply: Clayart: How's the Broken Leg?
Messaage: I will be out of the office Thursday April 21st @ 11:30am
returning Monday April 25th
For any COE issues please contact COE Help Desk @ (585) 264-6674 prompt 2
For any Ekms issues please contact Rich Nardone
For Placeware issues please contact The Placeware Service Desk at
585-347-9600

This isn't the first time I have gotten such a message. Is this a
legitimate email? Maybe she is a secretary? I cannot figure out why I am
getting the message, but usually after I have posted to the Clayart forum.

I have received them also and more than once? I know nothing more - just

I get them too. Her out of town filter picks our email address out of
them. I am impressed though. A special COE helpdesk, wow. I wonder if
its 24/7.
I haven't had any Coefficient Of Expansion problems I could not solve
for quite a while, except for one. If I had known about the helpdesk I
would of called:)

Hi Bonnie,
I get that auto-reply mail too, every once in awhile.
It never goes into my Clayart mailbox, so how I get someone's office
auto-reply is a mystery to me.

The person has Clayart being sent to a work computer (my guess) so she/he
can read postings when they bored or drinking that eighth cup of coffee in
the morning. The problem is, she/he went away for a spell and those
interested or needing answers to COE issues have been told how to get these
via Outlooks Out-Of-Office- Attendant feature...and the rest of us get
pinged back with these messages.

The old proverb applies....shit happens.....as Kurt said, the delete key
works well.

that's it exactly: when you write to clayart, some
people get posts as individual emails. If they are on
vacation, you get a response from them ( you can set
your email to do this). Otherwise it goes as normal
into the direst and regular emails, read or deleted as
interested or not to the receiving clayart-er.
