Earth and Fire Pottery on mon 25 apr 05
Hi kids-
I was operating under the assumption that if you didn't recognize the name of the glaze you would not have a recipe, and that would be that, but I forgot about the insatiable thirst for knowledge that folks have here.
Ferguson's yellow is a glaze from the sixty's and seventies, that you saw simply 'everywhere' then. It's a cone 10, and really looks good with an iron rich clay body. It can be an unctuous, buttery and knock your eyes out fat glaze. When I was in Baltimore, I noticed it by its absence. I didn't see any anywhere.
I want to study this glaze, cuz i love it, and I know there is more than one recipe out there. So thanks to everyone, esp. Luis, for sending me recipes. Keep em coming if you have any.
Also, thanks to Mert and Holly Kilpatrick for turning me on to the Clayart website where you can search for anything you like. Very easy and fast. Things are impossible until you know how to do them. Found only a few entries for the glaze. Thought there would be more. I am going to try a few spelling variations, as searches are Dependant on what you put in. The old garbage in garbage out theme. It will only find what you tell it to.
So thanks again everyone, gregg
