Dear Clayarters,

The Crooked Tree Art Center, in Petoskey, MI is holding a three day Raku
Workshop at the CTAC on July 5,6,7. The workshop will be taught by Meg
McClorey, Resident Potter at the CTAC and a professional potter since 1979.
She operates her own shop in Boyne City, MI and her web site is
www.megpots.com

The workshop is part of the CTAC Summer 2005 Workshops
Contact Gail Lambert at the Center, gail@crookedtree.org or
phone Crooked Tree Arts Center, 231 347-4337.
Cost is $150 for members, $180 for non-members.
9:00a.m. 4:00p.m. probably later on the firing days - as long as it takes.

This raku workshop is designed to be both enjoyable and informative for all
levels of experience. Participants will learn the history and science of the
craft, receive an introduction to the various pottery processes and glazing
methods, and be able to produce final clay work through hands-on training.

Come enjoy tremendous personal satisfaction from the process of making pots
and raku firing. Raku ware is distinguished by its crackled glaze, created
when the piece is pulled from the kiln and cooled quickly - accomplished by
placing the super hot pottery into containers of newspapers or straw,
causing a reduction atmosphere that allows chemical reactions to continue
with the clay and glaze.

Put this on your calendars. Hope to see you here.

Regards,

Bonnie Staffel
