speaking of red art clay...

...several people have suggested I try it in some of my glaze
experimentations--still on the road to the past here, trying to find
something that satisfies me in the mood or effect of 18th century
transparent amber glazes that, of course, used lead--which I'm not.

I'm becoming fairly comfortable with the RIO glaze I usually use--it's not
as dark yellow or amber as I'd wish, and if I overdo the RIO to try to
strengthen the amber, it tends to go redbrown instead, as Rudy Tucker (I
believe) noted.
Glaze samples are at the bottom on my Yahoo Pottery in Progress album at
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/graphicartepsi/album?.dir=/bbb8 --you can see
how redbrown it goes if you get JUST a bit carried away with the red iron
oxide. (Incidentally, I'm unsure as to why the glaze sample tiles are
invariably closer to what I'm after than the finished work. What's up with
THAT??)

Anyway, Red Art--I'm not really needing 50 lbs. to try a couple of glaze
experiments with--anyone willing to sell me 1-5 lbs.? If so, please contact
the below email address...

Best--
