If you are in northern California, tomorrow, Saturday May 14th, the
Sacramento Potters Group presents the Clayfest in Lincoln, CA. Clay,
glass and metal artists will be selling their wares and there will be
hands on activities for the kids, throwing demonstrations by Eric
Struck at the IMCO booth, pipe carving (on terracotta sewer pipe
donated by Gladding, McBean), live music and food vendors. It's a day
dedicated to clay and other things made with fire.
The booths will be open 10 AM to 4:30 PM in Beermann Plaza in the heart
of old downtown Lincoln, CA. a couple blocks away from the historic
Gladding, McBean terracotta factory. Tours of the Feats of Clay
exhibition will be going on until 1 PM and they are usually on a
walk-up basis on the day of the Clayfest, otherwise you need to phone
ahead for reservations. The tour includes a tour of the historic
factory and is worth seeing.
Looks like we will be having great weather again this year, so if you
are in the area, come on by! For directions and more information please

Cool, Stacey.
I was out of my booth a lot playing with the band. (no, I don't know
The Cobalt Blues - :-)) I was wearing a blue Clayart T-shirt, though!
I can see why they don't go too late in the heat of the day. Walking
through the kiln area of the factory with several large beehive kilns
in various stages of firing sewer pipe is awfully hot!
The tour is interesting, though, and worth seeing.

I went to Lincoln today, but didn't arrive in time to take the tour. We
got there at about noon, but the last tour had just left. I thought the
tour went all day. I was disappointed I missed it, but got to walk
around the other booths and talked to some of the artists.
My recommendation would be to call ahead and make reservations for the
tour (that's what the lady at the Feets of Clay Studio told us). She
said they do their last tour at noon, because it gets too hot and people
start passing out during the tour (doesn't make for a fun time). It was
fun, but I am defiantly going to try and get down there for the tour
(I'm in South Lake Tahoe).
So, call ahead and enjoy!
