Hi

Ian Godfrey, UK raku potter developed just such a kiln. He cut six =
identical squares of heavy metal mesh, layered them with first a good =
layer of aluminum foil then the blanket held on with ceramic buttons and =
nichrome wire. One square had a burner port cut into it at the base. =
The whole thing travelled flat and was assembled on site into a box =
shape held together by heavy duty bulldog type clips such as those used =
to hold up market tents - except the lid which remains unattached, and =
is left loose to slide to produce as much venting aperture as needed on =
the top. You line the base with raised kiln shelving to suit. For a =
really good description of the wire/blanket method (except that it is a =
round kiln) go to the Bath Potters website =
www.bathpotters.co.uk/kilnbild.htm=20

Hope this helps, Avril in the Forest UK

Avril,

We also have a version of Ian's Flat-Pack Kiln on our website, labelled
as such.
