Thank you for all the replies about the rising cost of porcelain . After much thought and working in my studio all weekend with the wonderful Coleman porcelain I have. I think I have decide to put aside my quest for a less expensive porcelain. Craig made a good point when he justified the raising cost of the clay by pointing out the raising cost of fuel. Everything is getting more expensive and the cost is just passed to the consumer. Changing clay's at this point would be like going across town for cheap gas. You drive 15 miles to save 2 cents a gallon! I think I will stick with the high test in my own backyard!

Another good point someone else made (can't remember who), is that I would have to start all over again experimenting with the drying process and making hundreds of glazes tests. I don't think so... I remember my first year. I had a 25% success rate due to drying cracks and firing problems. Over that first year I developed a 3 stage drying process and a successful firing schedule, now I have a 90% success rate. I think I just forgot where I came from for a minute. I certainly don't want to go back to that.

Thanks,

Teresa Testa
