Call For Entries

The College of Southern Idaho will be the site for "Stoke!", an
exhibition of woodfired ceramics from throughout the northwest. The
exhibition will open September 13, and run through October 15, 2005.
We invite galleries in the region to respond to us if they might care
to display the show during the winter.

Juror
Jeanette Rakowski is an experienced clay artist who lives in Helena
Montana. She studied at the University of Montana in Missoula, and
completed a two-year residency at the Archie Bray Foundation in
Helena. Her work is exhibited widely in the west and in selected
galleries from Massachusetts to Florida. Jeanette built the woodfired
soda kiln at the Bray, and she has conducted a number of workshops
around the country with McKensie Smith.

Eligibility
Ceramic artists from Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and
Nevada are eligible to enter. The show intends to explore the process
of firing with wood, and functional, sculptural and conceptual objects
are welcome. The juror will select the exhibition from slide entries
and she may disqualify any object that is not representative of the
image submitted, or that can not be exhibited safely.

Entries
No more than four 35mm slides can be entered, along with a
non-refundable $25.00 fee to the College of Southern Idaho. Please
print on each slide: artist's name, title of the piece, indication of
"top", and #1, #2, #3. #4, corresponding to a list of titles, and
retail prices, if applicable, provided by the artist. Please attach
the list to the slide packaging. If your work sells during the
exhibition, the Herrett Center retains a 25% commission. If your work
is not for sale, please indicate dollar value so that we can insure it
properly. Please include installation instructions if necessary. All
artists' slides will be returned.

Liability
The Herrett Center at the College of Southern Idaho will insure
accepted works from the time they arrive in August or September until
they are shipped out or picked up by the artist. The college may
reproduce your work for publicity or for archiving the show.

Deadlines
Entries must be received by July 27, 2005.
Send slides of entries and kilns (see below), entry fee:$25.00 to
College of Southern Idaho, self addressed stamped business size
envelope, list of titles and prices/values to:

Bill West
College of Southern Idaho Art Department
315 Falls Avenue
Twin Falls ID 83301

Notification of acceptance will be sent out by August 5.

Catalogue
Slides of accepted work will be retained for a month so that he
College of Southern Idaho can publish a color catalogue of this
exhibition. Since this project is a celebration of the woodfire
process, we want to use images of artists' kilns in the catalogue. We
need to go to press almost immediately after the show is selected, so
we ask that you also include a slide of your kiln. An image of an
artist is welcome too, if it features the kiln that fired the object
in the exhibition.
