Some more musings about pinholes....
I have recently been getting them on some pots but not others. I trawled the
archives and tried the recommended fixes - dampening the pots before glazing
seems to help a little, but not entirely. They are still appearing in the
blue shiny glaze - it's an in-yer-face shrieky colour that probably makes mel's
MIL blue look positively delicate. 1.5 per cent cobalt carb in a transparent
base glaze (Mike Bailey's cone 6 book), no pinholes when testing, but too many
on the "real" pots. None of the other glazes I use are affected, so I am
wondering - does cobalt carb create a pinhole problem?
One of my favourite clientele - my sister, actually - loves the look. Where
I had done some overlapping with the blue and matt white, she said it reminded
her of the sea, waves breaking etc. Maybe I'll just start a new line of
surfy pots.
Has anyone else found cobalt to be holey?
