All my buddies thought I was a nerd or a wierdo. But I loved it and still
do.

Dear Les

This made me smile. I have loved classical music all my life, and as I read
those words, remembered that when I was at school even my closest friends
didn't know that I preferred Beethoven, Verdi, Chopin, and all that lot, to
anything the hit parade could offer. I was too embarrassed to admit to something
regarded as "so old-fashioned"! By my late teens I didn't care any more about
what the rest of them thought, and the close friends were surprised when I
confessed, but not too bothered really. Although one of them told me some years
later that she thought I had gone from being normal (liking pop music) to being
a bit strange. I corrected her, said it was the other way round. It was
something we never did manage to agree on!

Now, my two big passions combine so well - I have my little radio on in the
studio, blasting away (BBC, Radio 3, almost all classical) and it's wonderful.

Cheers

am smiling as I read this Jenny....
I For most of my childhood and
adolescent years I studied classical piano.
I think I missed a critical piece of puberty
because of that.

I did enjoy pop music and even went to
a few rock concerts..the Woodstock Era (i date myself eh?)
my mother loved opera...I think she was the only
farm wife in rural Manitoba that listened to
opera music at that time .Classical was THE thing...
we even played it for the cows coz' it was supposed
to make them more content.

Now my musical tastes run to good ole country western
and da' Blues....I seem to make better pots listening
to David Wilcox than I do listening to Rachmaninoff.

I wonder if the music we listen to affects the pots we make.....???????
