Hey Friendly People!

Back in the seventies I built my kiln ,based on a Daniel Rhodes design.
"Mama Martha" was fired every ten days, summer and winter. Six Johnson
Venturi burners and natural gas did the trick just fine for many, many
years. Then we moved to the country, dismantled Mama Martha and resurrected
her again. This time using the same burners but converted them to propane.
The foundation of the kiln as well as the bottom part and burner ports are
made of hard fire brick, the walls crown and door are all made out of K26
soft fire brick and the firing chamber is app. 20 cubic feet. Given my
health, plus the fact that I have not fired the kiln in a few years I have
decided to sell it.... There are app. 500 soft and 300 hard fire brick plus
the steel frame, 3/4"black pipe manifold and brass gas valves plus 6
Johnson Venturi burners....also have four more Johnson burners....I will not
GIVEthe stuff away!
Pictures of Mama Martha can be seen on my web site:

Go to "Pottery Demonstrations", then scroll down to "Workshops". In those
two pictures Mama Martha can be seen in the back ground.

The kiln outside dimensions are : just over six feet tall to the top of the
crown, just over four feet wide and just under four feet deep., plus chimney
and damper box. It is a down draft kiln and all the walls are nine inches
thick. How much am I asking? Geez....
The last time the burners were in the catalogue they were $ 225.00 a
piece....K 26 fire brick goes for $7.50 a piece....Hard brick $ 3.50.....You
figure it out! ;-) Make me a reasonable offer I cannot refuse! Keeping in
mind that you will have to dismantle the whole thing....
Interested parties can check it out there, then contact me off list.

I don=92t know about the burners but your estimate on new brick is a little
high. Name brand brick can be had for less than $5 and no name brick for
less than $3 excluding shipping.
