Glaze test for Dry Yellow Pumpkin, cone 6, oxidation.
Glaze tested on white midrange stoneware fired in electric oxidation to =
1220c. (2228f)

Source: Clayart
Credited to: our Ababi Sharon (deceased)

Firing ramp:
100c p/h to 600c (212f - 1112f)
150c p/h to 1140c (302f - 2084f)=20
80c p/h to 1220c (176f - 2228f)
15 min. soak
cool down max. to 1100c (2012f)
Hold 1 hour
Shut off kiln

Recipe:
18 Frit 3134
19 Dolomite
24 Kaolin
16 Calcined Kaolin
16 Spodumene=20
8 Flint
-----------------------
101 gr.

ADD
6 Rutile
14 Titanium Diox.

Note: All raw materials are measured up or down to the nearest half =
decimal. =20
Colorants or additives to a 100 gram test batch are measured in percent =
to the 100 gram test batch.

Results:
Used 40 Kaolin instead of 24 Kaolin and 16 Calcined Kaolin.

Mat, smooth, covering glaze. Slight sheen on surface. Color is a truly =
mellow yellow orange. On closer look at the surface, there is some =
pitting, but cannot feel it.
The glaze has an area that is darker and toastier than rest of test =
tile. An unusual color, as it is very much in the yellow family.
I will re-fire it to cone 8 to see how it does.

This glaze is probably underfired at cone 6 and has a low expansion rate.
