salt and hard brick

i would totally agree with tony.

if i was to build a new salt kiln.
(and i won't.) i would use the hardest
brick i could find. and i might even use mortor.

nothing is going to stop the decay that salt
creates in a kiln.
salt will always kill a kiln.
so,

there is fibre and itc.
but, it is very expensive...and over time
it too will fail.

and hard brick salt kilns die too.
but, hard brick is cheap, gas is expensive.
so.
make your choices.
it is a personal choice.
each must find their own roads.

if i was, and i am, going to build a stoneware
kiln...i would always use ifb. no question.
and, i would give it a lite coat of itc.

as i have said here many times...often mis/understood)
itc has a place. it is not a cure all, do all. it works best
on fibre...it works well on electrics...applied properly.
but, it is not the end of the world. any tool that is
used correctly is a good tool. a task, a job, a tool.
find the best tool for the job...it pays.
