I learned everyhthing I needed to know about parenting and safety by
watching a mum chickadee kick her kids outta the house, we had rented her by
our studio. We were having a cuppa tea and watching each new chick get up
the nerve to fly. Mum had probably spent the 2 previous days warning them
about cats, hawks, cars, and silicous.
We were sitting there encouraging the last little guy to go, when he took
off and landed on my head. I put him on my finger and took him back to the
perch for another try. This time he stumbled a bit on take off but then went
into perfect flight. His mother must have also told the kids if in trouble
land on a potters head. Her mother before her told her to rent a safe house
near a potters studio. Except don't rent beside Warren MacKenzie cause he
doesn't do studio safety lectures.
I never told my own kids this but I know if they were in trouble anywhere in
the world and they saw a potters shingle that is where they would head.
Usually the safest and most wecoming places on earth with good folks, good
music ,good food and silica dust in the fabric of the chairs.
If Andi and the kid come to visit Tony, they will drive the busiest artery
in Canada (the QEW ) on which hundreds of thousands of cars and trucks
travel each day. She will experience speed, rage and pollution. She will
turn into Canada's fruitbasket- a place of orchards, greenhouses and
vineyards. Each are sprayed almost daily especially if it rains. We could
sit outside but remember the sprays and the car fumes. We could go in the
studio with the boxes labeled this product may be harzardous to your health-
clay. We could go in the house but don't plunk down on the old chair as the
dust will fly.
I say we do it all. Life your life and life it LARGE.
I maintain a potters studio is one of the safest places on this earth.

I wondered if mum and the chicks hung around together for more learning or
if like Steves's son Seth in japan for 4 years and his ole buddy my son Jay
a paramedic in downtown TO with his beat the hardcore junkies,drunks,
hookers and homeless were raised to leave home and fly solo?
