Hi,
Axner Pottery produces several types of colored porcelain, including black. It's very pricey,
costing over $15 for 5 pounds, but it makes a great black color, and glazes like a dream.
Hope this helps,

Coloured clays are very nice BUT;
High cost colours like blacks and blues make them a very expensive
option, As you only actually SEE 3 to 5 percent of the colour that forms
the surface, the rest is hidden inside.
I have suggested the following as solution to a number of our customers,
who have come back and reported it as very effective. Make the piece in
unadulterated clay, make a slip from the same body, adding the colour
you want to use, and slip-cover the finished article!
This same approach can be used with coarse clays for pit/bonfire firing
where a burnished surface is wanted, slipping the finished piece with a
slip made from the original clay, minus the grog, and burnishing that.
