Can anyone tell me where the bridge rectifier (small silver thing about an
inch square)goes in a Brent CXC? Inside the control box? Somewhere else?
The replacement part arrived without any instructions...
Thanks!

Maureen:
Unplug the wheel. NOW .
(For anyone else that needs do this, you can get those bridge
rectifiers at most Radio Shack stores for $2.95+tax)
Then, take the (4) four phillips (cross) screws out of the face of
the control box and remove the front panel. Carefully, as it will
have wires attached to the switches etc and you do not want to
disconnect them. (You can do this with the control box still
attached to the wheel frame on some of the older ones. If this
applies also to yours, just pull the front panel down out of your
way.)
Inside the box, (probably covered in dust) will be a circuit board.
On the circuit board you will find that bridge rectifier.
Be SURE that you remove and install one wire at a time. A needle
nose pliers, or a bent-nosed forceps will help you there. On one
corner of the new (and the old) rectifier will be a diagonal cut, as
if the corner had been filed or chewed off. This is the locator, so
you know where to place each wire in relation to it. You will need
to be reasonably careful about it, but anyone can do it. Once you
have moved the four wires from the old rectifier (on the circuit
board) to the new one IN THE SAME LOCATIONS, then you can remove the
screw holding the old rectifier to the board and install the new one
in it's same place. If there is a silicone heat sink compound on
the back of the old rectifier (like a greasy substance) scrape it
off, and wipe it on the new one, spreading it out evenly. It's
known as dielectric grease and Radio Shack carries that too, in
small quantities.
Some people find it easier to remove the whole control box from the
wheel, some find it easier to remove the circuit board and work on
it separately. Your choice. Just unplug the darn thing first, ok?=20
All told, it will take you less than an hour, start to finish.
Hope that helps,

The DC outputs connect to the two wires that go to the motor. Follow them
into the box and you should be able to find the old bridge rectifier, and if
you want the wheel to turn in reverse, hook the two wires up to the opposite
terminals and it will turn the other way.
