Pardon me for scolding, on this gorgeous morning in central Tennessee, with
carpenters outside building a big deck on my house, but . . . . .

There were responses to both of these sales inquiries that said nothing more
than "yes, I'll buy them." Why were these responses posted to the list???
You can simply harvest the individual's email address from their clayart
message and contact them offlist. There is no excuse for sending messages
to the list that are completely meaningless to everyone except one person.
Those should always be sent as off-list messages. To post a message ONLIST
asking the seller to contact you OFFLIST is especially bizarre. Why
wouldn't you just contact them offlist to begin with?

Sorry to be a grump, but this needed to be said.

Vince,

For some reason in this instance I acted instinctively and forgot it was
from the list and not an individual. I'll bet that's what happens in 99%
of these situations. It's just so habit forming to click "Reply".

What Vince says has an added advantage. When you post to the list, you wait
for the moderator to forward your message to the actual list. Depending on
when you post and the moderator moderates, it could be up to 6 or more hours
until your message hits the actual list. Mean while, someone else who wants
the same item more than you do posts the seller directly, beating you out by
HOURS. If you REALLY want to buy the stuff, contact the seller ASAP
directly.
