hard stuff at the bottom of throwing water

A professor told me years ago to add a little vinegar to my throwing water
when throwing with porcelain to avoid these fine particles settling to the
bottom. It works for me every time.

Ahhh yes, the joy of the porcelain gunk. I looooove scraping this off
the
bottom of my wheel's splash pan, too. As best as I can tell, the very
fine
porcelain seems to seperate very quickly in the water and settles into
an
indestructible layer on everything it touches.

I have solution for you, except to say that I keep a paint scraper to
break
it up when I clean my studio buckets.
