Hi Wes,
Thank you for bringing this exhibit by Toshiko to our attention. I would
urge anyone in that vicinity to not miss it. Her work is personified by the
Coil and Throw method but she first centers and opens a large lump of clay
to make the lower part. She then refines the shape by gently paddling the
completed form. It is an adventure to watch her demonstrate her method. I
enjoy my collection of her wonderful work from the years at Cranbrook to
the recent present.
