questions!!
I really think that a person should be asking their own questions.
Especially someone as well know, and knowledgable, as Lana Wilson. Am I
the only one who thinks that this is a bit strange?

Weeellllll, Earll,......I wuz thinkin sum happy thoughts, had even
agreed with ole Vince that I was sounding a bit on the grumpy side.
Can't really say what prompted me to write what I did except that a
simple question posted by a second party does indeed seem a bit strange
to me. I stand by what I said. Just not by the way I said it.
Now I'll be a bit grumpy agin and just say that folks should
probably read the latest postings before firing back another shot across
the bow.. Let the smoke clear for a moment as it were. I do indeed
realize that some folks are indeed more computer literate than others,
and that some are passive, others agressive, etc., etc. However, it
does not exactly take a computer literate person to send an e-mail which
is all that posting to clayart requires. This is further evidenced by
the forwarded e-mail from Lana herself via Riki Gili that the former
was thankful for all of "our" help. This just strikes me as being kinda
weird and redundant. Why not just send the commentaries and/or quries to
the list???? I tried to take my hat in hand and gently step back from
this one but have been jumped twice. I'm now jumpin back....

Craig -
For the life of me, I cannot understand why you posted that original
message, and I am even more baffled that your trying to back it up now. You
need to get over this. If Lana chooses not to be a member of Clayart, that
is her business, but you seem to be implying that she should be denied any
benefits of Clayart unless she joins. If over time she needs advice or
information on a series of clay-related issues, I suspect that she might
join, but in the mean time, what could possibly be wrong with her asking a
friend to post a question in order to gather information that she needs?
People have done this regularly on Clayart, and no one has ever complained.
Someone might say "I have a friend who has a kiln for sale etc." or "I have
a friend who is having a pottery sale etc." Why should this be a problem?
You contribute so much to this list, but the above post and its predecessor
come across as grumpy and selfish and a little mean-spirited. What about
generosity and sharing? That's what Clayart is all about. It's not some
exclusive club that limits it's benefits to a select membership.

Now just one darn pickin minute dude!!!! How in the devil do you get
off calling me grumpy, selfish and mean spirited??? Who the devil peed
in your pond today? As I stated before I TRIED to back away from this
one quietely, by posting an apology, but was jumped before I new what
was up.
Your interpretation of what I said is bizarre!!!!! I merely stated
that it seemed a little strange to me that someone as famous an
knowledgable as Lana Wilson was getting info via a third party. Reminds
me of those folks who refer to themselves in the third person. That is
my read. You have your read. Put both of them in a leaky toilet and they
still end up all over the bathroom floor.
You have also come across as speaking for "the list" in your intial
response to my post. How do you know what each and every other person on
this list thinks? Are you clarvoiyant? That statement betrays an awful
lot. How can you be so presumptuous and arrogant as to know what every
one else does or does not think? I most certainly do not. I posted my
statement as a query. Perhaps you would do well to concider the same on
occassion.
Why don't you read the Mayor's latest post as well. He plainly
states that one need not be a member of ClayArt to post. I have also not
in any way shape or form implied that one need be a member of the
ClayArt community in order to benefit from it. I sing the praises of
ClayArt each time I get the chance. I encourage folks to use the
reasource. I pass info on to students and other professionals as well.
To somehow deduce that what I originally posted is selfish or mean
spirited is ludicrous.
I have tried to not get into the personal attacks that I see popping
up on the list from time to time. But this one is beyond the pale. As
stated before, I stand by my opinion that the whole thing seems a little
strange to me. Whether you do or do not understand or agree with this is
really of no consequence.
And don't tell me what I need, or don't need to get over! You need
to get over yourself if this is the way you react to things.
