After a visit to the American Museum of Ceramic Art in Pomona last night
for the opening reception of "Laying the Foundation, American Art
Tile" I'm feeling all evangelical and want to urge anyone who lives, or is
visiting, in the Southern California area to make a trip out there to see
this exhibition. Its a great exhibition of tiles old and new, a nice
museum and the staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Too bad you
missed the opening because the food and wine were great too. It took me an
hour and a half of fast freeway driving (something I dislike) to get there
but it was certainly worth it, a really exciting evening. The exhibition
continues to November 5 and more details on hours and how to get there etc
can be found on their website www.ceramicmuseum.org.

Marvin- Pleased to get your reflections of the Pomona exhibition. That
area is rich in hand made tiles. I did my toilet training there with
Hamada, Soldner, Mason ,and the rest of the southern California lot.

However, for anyone serious about tiles should get connected with THE TILE
HERITAGE FOUNDATION. I have am member and participant for yrs. They rep
the best there is in contemporary and historical tile Their activities
include a national symposium with many international attendees. I am
currently working with the FOUNDATION to possibly have the next symposium in
Sarasota, Florida.
