Since I've lived in Alaska for 30 years, going "outside" to the "lower 48"
has alway been a big adventure to me no matter if I do it twice a year or
every other year. I would like to share some of the great pottery
experiences I've had this summer.

In the Seattle Airport, there is a great display of tea pots. I can't tell
you exactly where they are (between two terminals) but they were fantastic.
At least 20 of them - a wonderful sight to a tried traveler.

In historic Greenfield Village, Detroit, Michigan, I saw their new wood
burnig kiln. The potters are very friendly and informative. Besides doing
only historic pottery, they are now experiementing with their own designs.

On my way to Buffalo, NY were I grew up, we stopped by to see Tony and
Sheila. Seeing that I am mainly a lurker, it was an honor to finally meet
someone in person from Clayart. Tony was so kind to take the time and gave
us a tour. I saw the train kiln in person!! Along with his gas kiln - they
sure are beautiful. I learned many things in the brief time I was there. I
really do need to get out more. Besides pottery, I learned were to go to
test some great wine and buy a bottle!
Tony and Shelia - Congratulations on your award! Thank you so much for your
time and hospitality. We'll stop by on the next vacation.

Carol -

I've been lurking, too, for too long! I gotta get it together.

Thank you for your acknowledgement of the teapot display at the Seattle
airport. One of the teapots is mine (tall, green, branchy handle). The
teapots were all produced by instructors and studio artists (Ken Turner,
John Taylor, Hunter McGee, Alex Gaulston, Janet Crawley, Dana Lasswell, Pam
Fredback, and myself) and students at the Moshier Community Art Center in
Burien, Washington - just a few minutes away from the airport. We are proud
of this work, and that we are one of the first to participate in the art
displays in the newly constructed portion of the terminal.

Thanks again for the acknowledgement, and happy travels!

Seattle, WA - It's July (summer, right?) some blue sky, some overcast - a
little bit of this and a little bit of that. No cherries on my lovely old
tree - early and warm bit of spring got everything confused and budding,
then a freeze (and those nasty crows). Bummer. The asparagus and the
tomatoes are doing fine, however. Whew.
