wheel wouldn't stop

I came into my studio this morning to find my wheel spinning all on its own
and it wouldn't stop even though the pedal was depressed. I was momentarily
depressed myself, but then I searched through clayart archives and found
directions on how to fix it. I pretty much suck at trying to figure out
electrical equipment- but, hey, I can turn a screw!

Anyhow, I started to wonder what caused the wheel to creep in the first
place. I'll confess right now...I usually leave my on/off switch in the ON
position. Did this happen because I've been too lazy to turn off the switch
or would it have happened anyway?

hey silver fox!

a similar thing just happened to me yesterday!
the wheel had been off. the foot pedal was in
the off position. i flipped the power switch and
the thing took off full tilt! i played with the
pedal: it just kept going. i turned it off and on
several times. when on, it just kept going and going
(and not an energizer bunny in sight).
i finally decided i would just center all my balls
of clay at once unitl i could figure out what to do!
after centering the first one, it seemed to go back
to normal. today, the same thing.

anyway... what words did you search on when you checked
the archives? i need to look there too!

thanks,
lauren, the mudslut

I emailed Lauren already (I received her post privately before I got it
through Clayart), but for any one else who has a problem with their Brent
wheel not coming to a stop- here's what I told her:

I searched the archives through the yahoo search engine using Brent foot
pedal. (I think!) I didn't have any luck using the search page on the acers
site.

Anyhow- this is such an easy fix- even I could do it! Remove the cover plate
on the bottom of the foot pedal. There are two buttons. The red one controls
the top speed of the wheel. The blue one controls the minimum speed. Depress
the foot pedal to off position. Turn the blue button until the wheel stops
and then a smidge more just to be sure.

Viola- you are now a mechanic!
