My old electric kiln with a corroded-away bottom, sits
on a round piece of steel plate.
That's my advice if the bottom metal skin of your kiln
deteriorates - replace it with a 3/16" thick piece of steel.
Just set the steel circle on the kiln stand and set the kiln
on the new bottom - you will never have to worry about
your kiln bottom again.
I even welded a couple of handles on the side of mine.
