The day the guys in suits showed up in the Hamilton
College clay studio was the day I stopped putting my
bare hands into glaze buckets to check for lumps.
There is a system of hermetically sealed buckets for
all glaze related waste. Guys in big yellow hazmat
suits with face masks and gloves come and pick them up
every semester and cart them off for appropriate
disposal. I don't know what they do with them, but
nothing goes down the drain, not even rinse water.
