You are hitting at a fly with a baseball bat. I do not own 40 books on
anything. Of course they repeat! They are about the same thing! If you
had 40 books on French cooking--how different do you think Julia Childs's=
,
Elizabeth David's, Craig Claiborne's souffl=E9s would be?

I would stick with mid-range--c.4-6 first. You still have to learn SO mu=
ch
about clay behavior, clay/glaze interaction...and you might as well make =
it
simple and stick to one temp FIRST. DO get three or four bodies at that
temp to TRY. See which works best for you and your way of working.

Get one or two glaze recipes. Test them plain on your clays. THEN go of=
f
into the color bit....and remember: if you want to make tableware, you mu=
st
focus on SAFE glazes.

Meanwhile, I am so exhausted reading about your projects, I am going back=
to
bed! 480 test tiles without really pinpointing what you want or need! Oy=
!

Blessings.

I am also a beginner, and I had to make the decision to focus on the
simplest form of everything, and only learn as I go. My instructor want=
ed
us to memorize cones etc and with all I have to do as a single mother o=
f
three full-time in Art Ed at RIC, my brain just cannot take any more
memorization. I write important infor on cones and good glaze combinati=
ons
and different firing steps in a small journal. I keep it wirh me and I c=
an
refer to it. I have a few comprehensive texts and a couple of books on
specific subjects like setting up a studio, and terrasigilatta technique=
s
etc. I find that I can get a lot of what I need online without buying a
book.
