Please explain what happens when you squirt water or place an ice cube on
your hot raku piece. What effect does one get?
Thanks, Linda

Linda, if you spray water onto your piece you will get an immediate
localized cooling effect of the glaze. This results in a more
concentrated crackle than if you just let the piece cool of it's own
accord. If you play with misting your piece with a spray bottle you will
discover that you will be able to vary the degree of crackle throughout
your pot. Try more concentration of spray from an inch away in some
spots and much more of a wider pattern of spray from several inches away
in another. As to the placement of the icecube I can't really say.
Haven't done that one.
Hope this helps
