Lili Krakowski on mon 25 jul 05
Someone wrote a few days back that he had looked in the Archives for a post
by Lili on quick and easy kiln stuffers.
I did not remember this, so I got ahold of Lili over the weekend, and she,
poor old dear, did not remember either!
What we both remember is a list of relatively quick and easy gift items that
school children, esp. teenagers could make.
These included: name plates for their rooms; tiles with birthday dates for
grandmas; "frequently called and emergency number" tiles for the phone;
tiles with a favorite recipe written on it (an assembly of these can make a
wonderful splashboard for the kitchen sink) AND--on white clay with a very
glossy glaze one can write with a dry marker. A large tile of that with a
little trough at the bottom (visualize a letter J with the ascender as tile,
the curve as the trough to hold the marker) can be a fun memo pad in the
kitchen.
I still am planning relief tiles with idiot icons on them. You know like
the ones on men's room/women's rooms, telephone booths and so on. One needs
them. I have paper signs of a dog sleeping to hang on the locked front door
when i am taking a nap, ditto of a shower curtain with just feet showing to
hang on locked front door when I am in the shower. These can be fun.
Anyway. Lili and I both thought the lists published for great kiln stuffers
were great.
