What a great photo!..I had no idea their wings could look so transparent.
Now you just need a massage for your neck, no doubt..

Subject: Thanks for Bat House Info!

Thanks everyone, for all the input on bat houses, and on bats!
We have tons of them here, and they are certainly not shy.
I've checked out lots of info on the 'net, and I think, rather than building
an entire house out of clay, it would be more effective to make just the
front plate ceramic - sort of like a decorative tile. Partly because
apparently the color of the house is important, and I think a wood interior
might provide a safer and more attractive foothold for them. Would also
allow me to create pieces for roof peaks and such.

Since color and placement vary by species and region, I will probably hold
off the actual creation till after our move back to Ca (hopefully this
year), and concentrate for now on design and aesthetic.

Meanwhile, I'll stick to observing and trying to photograph them ;) Here's a
photo I took recently of one "hunting" in my front yard - took a couple of
days and some determination, but its a good start!

Thanks again gurus and guruettes!
