I listed this on Ebay but can pull it off and sell to a clayart person is
anyone is interested.
This blank expansion ring came with a Skutt model 231, cone 8 kiln. It can
be made to fit on a 1027 with 2.5 inch bricks. Both kilns are the same
dimension and are cone 8 although adding the ring reduces the final firing
temperature to cone 1.
One corner has a bit of damage but it shouldn't cause any trouble in use.
The ring is from a kiln that was hardly used. I looked on
bigceramicstore.com to find that a new one sells for $125. If you do low
fire projects, this might be just the thing you need. It plugs in between
the second and third ring of the kiln and expands the inside height from 27
to 31.5 inches.
According to Skutt: The blank ring for 231 is compatible with the 1027 but
there are upgrades in the attachment system that will need to be made in
order to use it. I don't know what they are talking about since I only have
the older system on both my kilns. If you need a photo of the socket or
plug, please ask.
This would be easiest to deal with if it was picked up. I am in Western
New York and occasionally drive to Boston so could drop it off on the way.
If you want to ship it somewhere, my husband is willing to build a shipping
box with foam and plywood/cardboard for $30 (shipping would be additional)
but that would really be a lot of trouble (and expense) so a local pickup
is preferred.
I also have a kiln, two full round shelves (one 21 and one 17) to sell.
