I recently got a Canon S2 IS and so far it is everything I could wish. I
thought long and hard about the digital SLR's and researched about
everything. The announcement of the S2 IS was announced (in April) and
decided to wait. Very glad I did. It shoots down to 1:1 with it's close-up
and additional close-up can be added. It has 12:1 zoom with image
stabilization. 4 ranges of resolution so you can shoot for shows or the
web. Controls seem to be very simple and intuitive. It can shoot up to 9
minutes of video depending on SD card size. It uses 4 AA batteries...etc.,
etc. It is about $450-500 but for me, well worth it.
