Hello List,
Anyone out there using/built an Olsen Fast Fire (wood obviously) Kiln?=20
I'm thinking about buliding one and would like any good/bad/ugly
stories or tips.
Is it stupid to build one 16 cu ft? What is the smallest size that
isn't just dumb?
What sort of smoke are we talking? Fire place or huge black belches?
Anyone bought/built a Kiln Kit? Seems like the are great prices. I can
weld, cut, stack, mortar, how hard are they? How do they fire? Do they
include Burners (doesn't seem like it from my brief look at the site)?
I have his book. Great book.
Thanks in advance,

I fired a Fast Freddie in Latvia. It was loaded with sculpture for
the eastern European Ceramics Show that toured the US in the 90s.
That one was about 40 cubic feet. It was pouring rain and we had to
preheat the wood before throwing it in. It seemed to fired nicely but
it oxidized in a lot of the kiln. Possibly because of the huge pieces
in there and the stacking. 16 cu. ft seems small for the effort.
That is my only experience with a fast Freddie.
