Save those pottery shards!
Dror Benshetrit designed porcelain vases that are smashed and kinda put =
back together and then cast.
Starting at $120.00 to $225.00. Made in Germany and sold in MOMA in =
MYC. Reminds me of cracked eggs.

Hi Frank,
I might be being naive here but: the web site shows three images: 2 black
vases, 2 white vases and 1 white & 1 black. Click between the 2 black and
2 white vases and check the size, position and shape of the cracks of the
smaller one ... theyre the same!
The wonders of Photoshop?

Andy

No, they are all from the same master mould, cast in either black or white
"porcelain" by the Rosenthal factory.

Hi Leonard,
Now I am confused! So you saying the vases are cast in parts and then
stuck back together? They website describes the vases being broken.
Have you an insight into this particular work

One can not know everything, but my educated guess is that the commissioned
artist threw the original then constructed the broken piece from that
producing an original for the factories master mould makers to use as a
model for their moulds. These look to be slip cast from those moulds.
The original could also have started as a lathed object, cast broken,
reconstructed and used as a master.
I have lost the original link so this is from memory, there are two sizes
shown, but all the casts in the same size have the same design, ie are from
one original.
Rosenthal uses about 400 designers currently, see their www site for more
detail.
