I dug this one out of the Clayart archives:

Perkins Cone 9 oxidation Copper Red

Nepheline Syenite 126.10
EP Kaolin 16.00
*Zinc Oxide Calcined 16.40
Whiting 42.60
Talc 12.50
Flint 84.30
*tin oxide 1.80
*Silicon Carbide 1.20
*Copper Carbonate 1.80
302.70

I divided by three to get convenient numbers to mix a test batch of 1000 =
grams

Ball milled the granular silicon carbide to a nice powder, and used =
regular Zinc Oxide.

Then applied a thick layer by dipping

Fired to cone 9 Electric- (10 in the sitter)

I was accidently paying attention this time and put it up on a stilt so =
just the drippings ran all over the kiln shelf, and were easily removed

The result:

( I'll be doing this again)

Other pots:

From the left:

Rhodes Stony Matt plate

Two Celadon Ash

0.25% Cobalt carbonate in Phil's Nuka (see above) (pasty)

Artifical reduction with Silicon Carbide to get copper red.

10% Rutile in Nuka (it pits)

New batch of Karatsu Tenmoku with rutile decoration

Artifical reduction of John Jelfs Ochre Ash

1% Copper carbonate in Nuka over white slip - I need a gun.

Actually I got the gun, but the compressor was damaged and had to be =
sent back.

Hi Rick,

You might want to try it without the zinc oxide - it may not be necessary.
The reduction may have eliminated it.
