I never have wax bubbles because I don't use wax.
I am dedicated to my 1/4" dense sponge rug underlayment which I wet,
place on my wheel, hold my pot on it and give my wheel whirl.
No bubbles, no wax fumes or threat of fire, no sweat.
There are obviously 2 factions here..... I will hold fast to mine &
will graciously allow the wax group to maintain their dedication. :-)
Gayle Bair - tried the wax once..... I'm too sloppy... made a mess
& after numerous pots had not so mysterious crawling switched to sponging.
I don't even use to for resist but prefer latex.... so there!

I agree that those bubbles are annoying. I roll/rotate my foot rim into a
very shallow layer of melted wax and then with a brush already in the pan,
paint the inside of the foot ring by brush. If you add a little Lamp Oil to
your wax, it will melt a little faster and not build up too thickly.
Good luck.

Hi Claybair,
I wish I could use your method but with the CMC gum in my glaze to make it
hard for applying majolica style painting, it just won't wash off that
easily. It is almost rock hard. If I don't wipe the bottoms with the wax,
even the droplets that cling to the wax are hard to wash off.
