My teacher was rummaging around the metal shop and came across a huge vat of Albany Sand. Well, it had "Albany" in the name, so he had a bright idea. "Lets see what happens when we burn it". I was the only fool willing to offer up one of my pots on the on way to the wood fire, so we mixed it up, added a little woo yellow for a binder and poured it in. Well the wood fire didnt produce well. So we refired it in the salt kiln. Thought people might be interested in checking out the results. Any Info on what other people have done with this would be great thanks
Dave

Hi Dave, Don't know anything about Albany sand but back in the early
sixties at Penn. State someone brought in what they called Lake Erie
sand. When wedged into the clay it produced wonderful "freckles" in a
white matt glaze we used called "Barf". ( Affectionately named after an
oil burning kiln called "Old Barf" ).
