You now have tried everything.
The wheel is level; the wheel head is level; the wheel head runs true on a
true shaft. Actually, as has been pointed out it does not matter. Because
exceptions to all this perfection abound.
Whether you are centered or not, I agree with whoever, it makes no never
mind. If it did not one of us would throw through good times and bad,
health and illness.
Potting is like the old marriage vows: sickness, health, wealth, poverty,
better, worse.
Your body position AND the wheel speed can matter. Get a watch with a second
hand--I have a $5 Dollar-Store clock in the studio, and it has a lovely
second hand--and put a dab of clay on the wheel head. Now turn the wheel
head at about 60 rotations per minute, counting every time the dab passes a
given point. Just about. Set the pedal, do not touch it, try to center.
Does that work?
Sit on your throwing stool and close your eyes. DO NOT touch the wheel.
Settle your bod into the position it thinks comfortable for throwing. Just
wiggle around till your body says "yes". Open your eyes and look at your
hands. Now look at the wheel. Are your hands higher or lower than the
wheelhead? This exercise is best done with someone else watching too, so
that s/he can tell you how your hands related to the wheelhead.
Does that help?
Center with your eyes shut. This often reveals bad postures.
Lettuce know.
