Dear Clayarters,
I am using Advancer kiln shelves in my kiln and have been very happy
with them for the most part. There seems to be two schools of thought
about whether one should put kiln wash on them or not. I'd appreciate
any feedback on this subject. I can be reached best at
Abbyo@mamasclay.com.

Hi Abby,
I never use kiln wash. Why would you? Nothing really sticks. A scraper
gets it off, or a hand tool. I did have a problem with posts sticking, but
now I paint them with cold wax that has a little Alumina Hydrate mixed in.
I also paint the bottom of pots with the same mixture before glazing. I
sometimes flip the shelves upside down, and I don't want to have kiln wash
drop onto pots.
Good luck, Rikki Gill
