I guess the future really IS now. I just got
two offers in the last two days for on-line degrees.
The first congratulated me on having an MFA (where
do they GET this info) and said that thier "University"
wished me to have a degree from them, also. Unfortunately
I did not have the time to follow up, so not sure what
they had in mind......

The second merely stated that I could have ANY degree,
including medical, legal, bachelors, masters, doctorate,
in TWO WEEKS. No doubt it would cost a bit, I
didn't investigate. But I would sure like to know how
they found out I was so very, very clever that I could
absorb all that information in a mere two weeks, and
be a doctor of whatsis. Gee, I must be famous beyond
anything I might have suspected. Surely there can't be
THAT many people with such profound learning abilities.
You think?

To paraphrase Groucho Marx, I'm not sure I would
want to have a degree from a school that would accept
a student like me.......

One of the major problems with online degrees of ANY
kind is that they are bound to be tarred by the brush of
such scams. Though I know that there are many classes
that can be conducted online, with possible significant
exchange of information, I do doubt that the results of
such classes are equal to face-to-face work. In visual
arts - well, I don't think so.

Meanwhile, there is a cougar living somewhere very nearby,
I've seen it twice, now. Last night, in the orchard, maybe
twenty feet away, or thirty. Coming after the way-too-many
deer, but still not comfy for night walks through the woods. Or
day walks, either. Have to do something about it, I expect.

regards
