Sorry if this was already brought up... and sorry I have to ask (I guess
I could google it but I'd rather hear it than see it) but what does this
look like?

Is this athlete's foot of the head?

Jocelyn- now trying not to feel itchy

I hate to bring up such a nasty topic, but I have just been diagnosed
with a fungal infection on my forehead. I am supposed to go back to the
doctor tomorrow to have tests as I am having symptoms of a possible
systemic fungal infection. Ick. I am wondering where this has come
from?! You know where I am going with this.are we potters being
bombarded with high concentrations of fungus through our clay, or is
there no more in clay than in anything else? And, yes I know our immune
systems are supposed to be able to handle it. Well, just wondering if
anyone has any experience or info on this.

A friend of ours got a fungal infection in his lungs from mountain biking,
guess you can inhale the spores, but I'm not a doctor or nurse, so you'd
have to ask. Do you live in a humid climate? We used to live in Tennessee
and the stuff grew everywhere.

My wife had something similar, a fungal infection, but hers appeared on her
back at the base of her neck. Didn't know what it was, finally went to a
dermatologist, diagnosed as fungal infection. Prescribed anti-fungal cream.
After a month, still there, actually got larger. She was put on oral meds,
finally healing after two months!

Dr. didn't have specific cause, but he said a fungal infection usually
appears on areas that remain moist. Said my wife's infection may have been
form contact with vegetation - she had been crawling around under some
bushes we were trimming.

FYI - my wife is not involved in clay.

Many things in the environment - surprised many of us do as well as we do.

Always have new students asking why the slurry buckets stink so bad.

I explain about organic materials naturally occurring in the clay, but then
I tell them it's their fault!

Much of the real stink comes from skin and hair that gets into the mix!

That gets a great big EEEEEEEEWWWWWW from them.
