if you make a stack with two pipes...and fill the gap
with kaowool. you will just have the inside pipe burn out...nothing
to protect it.

you may keep the heat off the walls/ceiling, but you sure are
not doing anything for the inner pipe.

that is why there are kaowool flue liners.

it would be far cheaper, and better to have a strong single stack
lined with flue liners...you could use the second pipe, with an
air gap for the heat deflector.

of course you may be in a better position with fresh air mixing
with the heated exhaust. (updraft) it may work..depending how far away
you have the hood. what you have made is a standard
fire place double walled pipe (metalbestos).

kilns send a great deal more heat up that stack than a fireplace/wood stove.

complex problem.
once you have an inspector...you are at his mercy.
no matter what you do. he will give you his mandate.
and then you do it. his mandate may be a 50 year old standard.
still won't matter.
his way, or no kiln.
