Sorry, hit the wrong key there ... to finish up,
there's almost certainly not enough calcium in there
to make a melting difference.
If there is, it will show up by over-melting your
glazes -- semi mattes will appear glossy, etc. (There
are some color effects when you change from
sodium/potassium rich glazes to calcium-rich as well,
but not when you are talking about less than 1
percent concentration. The few elements that are
active at under 1% are things like cobalt, with
distinctive patterns of glaze reaction.
Mismixing a glaze sloppily will put you a percent or
two off easily enough; if you don't like your glaze
results and you're getting good vitrification
something else is the problem. Maybe it's time to
switch clay bodies?
Best wishes -- Steve S.

Hmmmmm!!!
Could one use the waste heat radiating from a kiln to power a still?
Ought to be able to produce enough pute distilled water to make up the
glaze for the next kiln load.

What's this? Use a still to make water? Hogwash! You should use the still to make "fuel" for your next firing!

Oh hell Earl! If you're going to get busted for running a still
(illegal in most parts of the country, I'm told) you can make a heck
of a lot more money distilling corn mash :>) =20
Just ask the Mayor. That spiral pipe of his looks an awful lot like
a condenser coil...a BIG one, too!
(Kaowool flue liner indeed...that's just fluff to confuse the
inspectors and "revenoors" LOL)
Don't waste your time making water!
Best,
Wayne Seidl
