Hi Karin,

Vitamin E Oil helped me with the scars & stitches

I hope you heal quickly. Fortunately my trigger finger was treated with an injection. 3 weeks ago I had carpel tunnel surgery on both of my hands. I was told I could return to clay at the 3 week mark.
However when I tried, I found that I've lost a lot of strength. I'm hoping that will get better on a daily basis. I couldn't use my hands for many weeks before the surgery because of pain. I think that contributed to my weakness. Does anyone have strengthening exercises to suggest?

Good luck with your recovery and your shows.

Barbara

I have Rheumatoid and Osteo arthritis and have spent a lot of time in
physical therapy since I was 26. Get a hacky sack (soft, small ball) and
press it with your fingers. My therapist told me she'll show me some
exercises when I'm able to exercise and I'll share them with you. Actually I
have three sheets of hand/finger exercises. If you email me privately I'll
send them of if you want me to fax them I can, otherwise my husband can scan
them for me.
Thanks for sharing your information.

This is what I have read about Vitamin E on cuts:

"vitamin E for scars. There is no evidence that vitamin E can help heal =20=

scars, and, because of skin sensitivity, it can actually impede the =20
healing process for some. A report of research published in =20
Dermatologic Surgery (April 1999, pages 311=96315), in an article titled =
=20
=93The effects of topical vitamin E on the cosmetic appearance of =
scars,=94 =20
concluded that the =93=85 study shows that there is no benefit to the =20=

cosmetic outcome of scars by applying vitamin E after skin surgery and =20=

that the application of topical vitamin E may actually be detrimental =20=

to the cosmetic appearance of a scar. In 90% of the cases in this =20
study, topical vitamin E either had no effect on, or actually worsened, =20=

the cosmetic appearance of scars. Of the patients studied, 33% =20
developed a contact dermatitis to the vitamin E. Therefore we conclude =20=

that use of topical vitamin E on surgical wounds should be =20
discouraged.=94 The study was done double-blind =93with patients given =
two =20
ointments each labeled A or B. A was Aquaphor, a regular emollient, and =20=

the B was Aquaphor mixed with vitamin E. The scars were randomly =20
divided into parts A and B. Patients were asked to put the A ointment =20=

on part A and the B ointment on part B twice daily for 4 weeks.=94 =20
Antioxidants are definitely an option for skin, but, for preventing =20
scars, vitamin E directly applied on skin does not appear to be one of =20=

them."
