Hi
I called the NCECA office to do something that I gave up years ago .

According to Dawn, the person who answered, NCECA 2007 is still on for
New Orleans. Maybe Dawn does not know. Hard to believe that she would
not or that she is fibbing though. Maybe Louisville is a contigency
plan. Nice name, good ring to it. French I think.

The board meeting scheduled next month for New Orleans has been moved
to Louisville. Normally this meeting would take place in the city that
was two years out from having the conference there. Maybe this is a
sign that Louisville is in the running for the future. Maybe not.

I have nothing against Louisville, 2008, but New Orleans needs a bunch
of good hearted fun clayers in 2007, and I need File' Gumbo. The stuff
they sell here I can't enjoy, tastes like canned sardine soup.

I certainly hope this is true, and that NCECA is still on for New Orleans.
If they can get it together in time, it would be great for us all to go down
there and spend money. If all the upcoming conferences and meetings
scheduled for New Orleans get cancelled, it's just going to make things much
worse for businesses in New Orleans.

If one were to read only one Clayart email today -- there were so many
after a drought -- it would Louis's. Then stop and go back to what you
were doing, oh so long ago. And think how much can be done in 20
months, given the will and the desire and the fortitude and the
planning. New Orleans may be the "Big Easy," but it's no pushover.

Louisville with Louis in 2009, New Orleans NCECA 2007!!

Kathy
Looking forward to discovering "File' Gumbo."

I'm with Louis on this one. The major business is N'Awlins in tourism.
One of the best ways to help rebuild is to keep conventions there -
especially those that are 1 1/2 years away. Taking conventions out of New
Orleans is taking JOBS away from people. Lots of jobs.

I used to go several times a year for work, and I'm planning to go again as
soon as it's feasible - hopefully for JazzFest. I need some music, some
crawfish, and some of the fantastic hospitality that is the heart of New
Orleans. Me too - nothing against Louisville, but rebuilding the city means
more than just shelter.
