The 'pond' idea is essentially what I use which is an open-top
'box' (cement pad and 8" high mortared block walls). I have this
outside my studio and sink line runs into it. The downhill side is
removable (2 snug fit blocks). When removed, I use a flat shovel to
scoop out the material for recycled glaze or slip (albeit experimental).
I keep box covered with screen so that other material doesn't
enter...mosquitos either!
Perhaps this is overboard, but since I have masonry skills, it worked
for me.
