Just got back to Sacto. after attending David's terrific extruder
workshop this weekend in San Jose! Four of us rode down to San Jose
together from Sacramento and of course Charles Moore was there as well.
It's about 115 miles each way for us, but we were not the farthest
travelers!

I think my extruder is going to get a lot more use after this. I had
always been sort of disappointed in the things I made with it because
they seemed so straight and sterile. David showed us how to get
beautiful organic shapes using our extruders. Lots of things I had
never thought of. So now there will be no more cobwebs in the extruder
barrel once i get it bolted back up on the wall!

Big thanks to the Orchard Valley and Mother Earth Clay folks for
putting the workshop together! And also to Matt and the folks at Clay
Planet for providing a nice place to work. There's nothing like having
a clay workshop in a warehouse space surrounded by tons and tons of
pugged clay!

This is the second workshop I have attended where David was a presenter
(Mendocino for throwing) and he does a fine job. If anyone has a chance
to attend one of his workshops I highly recommend that you treat
yourself and go. You will learn a lot and if you are really lucky you
will get to hear "The Cobalt Blues" live! And the deliciously funny
"Potters Tango", among other terrific tunes. Thanks, David!

tonight or go to sleep!)
