Hi pottery people!

I am an amateur potter and here is a summary of my situation:
My job is relocating to Collegeville PA and i will be moving there end
of next month. I have two kids - 13 yr old and a 8 month old. Ideally i
would like to find a 2br rental in a private house with access to
backyard and a pottery studio ( i will happily pay or work to use it)
so if there are any potters in the area with rentals that you know of -
PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
I would also appreciate any information on art centers/ pottery
studios/ potter's leagues in the area

Thank you very much in advance for ANY information

Maria

Montgomery County community College has an active ceramics program.
It is also close to Phila. and several places there such as the Clay
Studio.
Phila.. is a really good clay town. Collegeville is in a lovely
location.

Hi Maria and Marcia,

I agree that Philly is a great clay town. The Clay Studio is in Old City
Philadelphia and has classes from beginners and up. There are also a lot
of different clay artists in town.

A former studio mate and friend teaches at Montgomery County Community.
He's a very good teacher. His name is Peter Quinn. From what he would
tell me Montco sounded like a pretty good clay school. There are also the
Wayne Art and Cheltenham Art Centers that are good for clay.

I'm in Philadelphia as well... That could be a good thing or not.

I know the teacher at Montgomery county.... great guy, also teaches at Bucks county Com college. Montco has odd rules about how many peices you can fire though, I think its 25. If you want to take the trip, I would suggest going to Bucks... great facitlities, good teacher, good techs, sometimes a trip to a wood fire, and a new salt kiln.

I had a thought as I read Marcia's posting.
We were both in Philly and at PCA college
around the same time... the Jurassic Era.
I know you are thinking is this idea like my recent
Formica mug catapult???
Actually I think this is a good idea!
Wouldn't it be nice to have a listing of Clayart people by location.
That way if we are traveling we could just check the
listing and contact fellow potters in that area instead of posting to the
entire list.
Now the issue is how to do this without also giving spammers the
info. Feel free to ignore this idea if it's lame.
